The club was your typical trip punk clog hop bar. Tables, a dance floor, some booths along one wall, and a bar described almost all the decor the place had to offer. Jae was at the bar getting drinks, watching the door. He still couldn’t believe college kids came out to blue hill ave, but the place was full of them. Of course, it had almost as many shady characters of more years, pimps and dealers and they occasional thug that had survived long enough to be proven competent but wasn’t so good or ambitious they could get very far out of the barrens. Orks were a pretty common site, even with the disgusting amount of yuppies on the dance floor, but they’d always get a nice ring of space in a place like this.
About that time a crew came into the club. The man in the lead was big for an ork, and built a bit like a concrete bunker and a steer had a child. Behind him came a young woman, petit but confident, either didn’t know what she was getting into or knew exactly what she was getting into. Given the personalities he was guessing the latter. Shortly after a kid, maybe 18, certainly too young to drink, came through the door. Plainly dressed he wasn’t dirty but could have been an ascetic for all the lack of gear he seemed to have. He was graceful, probably a eastern style martial artist, maybe even tae kwon do given his resting stance. Finally, a guy that looked like some cross between a decker and a soldier came in. Probably ex mil decker. Had a generalist air but was clearly carrying a deck with him.
They all piled into the booth with the boss and proceeded to chat. They were calm, no raised voices and probably didn’t stand out a whit to most of the kids in the club. A few minutes later they left, walking out the back door of the club.
The Boss motioned him over, and Jae maneuvered through the crowd to sit with him in the booth
“What do you think?” the well kept Korean man asked of him.
“They’re professionals, I know that much. The kid is young but either well trained or lucked himself into some serious calm.”
"We’ll see how they do on this, it’s a simple enough job, if they can’t handle this they’ll never be able to handle the real work.
“Big discrepancy Boss. If they can handle this they very well may not be able to handle the real work.”
"They deserve first crack at it if they are the ones bringing back the information
